Founded in 2020, the HopeCan foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the culmination of a life-long ambition for Hope. Growing up, she watched her father serve the community first as an Auxiliary Police Officer then later as a Chaplain for the Baltimore County Police and Fire Departments. In her youth she was fortunate to spend time with both her father and those in the community which he served, police officers and firefighters. Having an affinity for them, and also spending a significant portion of her adult years associated with the US Military, Hope recognized the impact of Trauma on the lives of those who give so much to the service of the public. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she immediately set to attain her Master’s in psychology with a focus on complex trauma because she knew she wanted to give back. While doing so, and at the onset of COVID, she too became a chaplain for the Baltimore County Police and Fire Departments and created the HopeCan Foundation as a gateway to begin providing support. During the height of COVID, the HCF provided facemasks for first responders and was able to attain much needed supplies for police and fire stations in the county when it seemed all resources were unavailable. The Foundation also began providing individualized pro bono counseling for several officers from Baltimore County who experienced episodes of severe and complex trauma as a result of life events. Through her association with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Hope and the Foundation began serving as a volunteer resource during their quarterly Post Critical Incident Seminars. Created by the FBI specifically for law enforcement officers, the PCIS offers a safe and effective method for post-incident training in critical incident stress. Offered only to those officers who have been through highly traumatic events, the PCIS can mean the difference between staying on the job or leaving law enforcement for another profession due to the unresolved and unexamined effects of critical incident stress. The HCF sponsors attendance of officers at PCIS at no cost to them. The goal of the Foundation is to be able to send at least two officers per year to a PCIS (conducted in South Carolina). Additionally, the Foundation is seeking ways to host a similar type seminar in Maryland that could handle more that 20 officers to expand on the known benefits of this training.
Hello friend, I'm so glad you are here!
My name is Hope and I am a not just your ordinary Trauma Recovery Coach! I bring to the table a multitude of resources specializing in helping men & women who are suffering after experiencing trauma in their life. Whether that trauma is recent or from years past, the damage can be devastating and life altering. If this is you, I want to first say how incredibly sorry I am that you are going through this journey that no person ever wants to go on. I understand the intense feelings you may have of grief, shame, hopelessness, fear, confusion, and anger, amongst others.
Many times my clients come to me frustrated at the amount of time and money they have spent on the wrong types of care. They may be jumping from counselor to counselor, often feeling blamed or misunderstood, ultimately leaving them feeling like they did something wrong. They are desperate for help from someone who truly understands. Trauma requires a specific type of attention that most excellent therapists and counselors are not trained to handle. The good news for you is that there is help and you do not have to walk this journey alone.
During our journey together, I will show you how to apply different “tools” to navigate through trauma triggers as well as feelings of deep sadness, insecurity and not feeling “enough”. We’ll work on forgiveness, boundaries and freedom from the pain of past wounds. I believe that, through a lot of hard work, you can not only survive this trauma, but THRIVE after it.
Wherever in the world you call home, together, we will devise an individual plan for your specific healing needs so that you too can thrive after trauma. Call, text or email me today for your complimentary 15 minute phone consultation.
